Jo Walker - Principal

Hi, my name is Jo Walker and I am the founder and principal of Joanna's Dance Academy. I have lived in Burton all my life and started taking dance lessons at the age of six at The Pat Miller School of Dance. Throughout the years dancing with Mrs Miller, I took all of my NATD freestyle and street exams as well as going on to doing my student and associate exams as well as additional dance diplomas. I became a qualified teacher in 2019 with the National Association Teachers of Dancing (NATD) and I am fully qualified in Freestyle, Street and Contemporary. I also have a BSc degree in Psychology and I am a member of the International Performing Arts & Theatre (I-Path)

In January 2021 I took over the Pat Miller School of Dance after Pat's retirement and in November 2021 the school was rebranded into Joanna's Dance Academy (JDA).

When not teaching at JDA, I also work for Yoga Bugs, visiting schools in and around Burton and Derby teaching Yoga and mindfulness classes.

Keeley Morrow
(IDTA Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft) (NATD Freestyle)

I have been dancing since a young child taking part in performances, competitions and events. I have always loved helping others and began as a dance assistant before going on to take my professional teaching exams. I am an associate teacher for the IDTA and the NATD.
As well as teaching dance I am a Special needs teacher and SENCO. I hold a current DBS, safeguarding qualification and relevant insurances. I have two young children aged 2 and 3 who keep me on my toes and who im sure you will meet.

Jordan Richins
(Acro)

We’re thrilled to welcome Jordan to our teaching team as the coach of our Acro Gymnastics classes! Jordan brings a wealth of experience as both a performer and teacher of acrobatics. He has showcased his skills on some of the UK’s biggest stages and toured internationally, wowing audiences around the world. Alongside his acrobatic career, Jordan also works professionally in the TV and film industry, with appearances in several Netflix productions.

We’re so excited for our students to learn from Jordan’s expertise. Our Acro classes are open to children aged 5 and above, with spaces now available. These sessions are perfect for young learners keen to develop skills such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, flips, aerials, and more.

Meisha Guest
(BA Hons Dance, Addict Dance Academy)

Meisha teaches our acro classes. She is a trained professional dancer who graduated Addict Dance Academy and is also an ex GB gymnast. Some of Meisha's professional work includes starring in a Jason Derulo music video and in the 'Cromer Pier Summer Show' at the Pavilion theatre in Norfolk
